ABOUT THE EVENT

The European Branch of the American Counseling Association (EB-ACA) is pleased to invite proposal submissions for the 67th Annual EB-ACA Conference, hosted by The American College of Greece in Athens, Greece.

For the first time in conference history, the Annual Conference will be held across three full days, providing expanded opportunities for professional learning, networking, collaboration, and international engagement. Pre-conference workshops will be offered on October 21, 2026, followed by the conference on October 22–24, 2026.

Conference Theme

Odyssey of Connection: Attachment, Identity, and Belonging Across the Lifespan in an Oversaturated World

 

We welcome diverse proposals that address a variety of issues in counseling and related helping professions. Preference will be given to proposals that reflect this year's conference theme, address international counseling issues, and explore social justice, advocacy, multiculturalism, and human development across diverse populations and settings.

We encourage submissions from counselor educators, practitioners, supervisors, researchers, students, and helping professionals from around the world.

Presentation Formats

 

Educational Session (60 Minutes)

Educational Sessions provide an opportunity for presenters to share research findings, innovative programs, counseling interventions, best practices, professional development topics, supervision strategies, leadership initiatives, advocacy efforts, and counselor education content. Sessions should include practical implications and opportunities for participant learning and engagement.

 

Extended Educational Session (90 Minutes)

Extended Educational Sessions allow presenters additional time to explore topics in greater depth through discussion, demonstrations, experiential activities, skill-building exercises, case examples, and participant interaction. These sessions are ideal for topics requiring more extensive coverage and application.

 

Panel Discussion (60 Minutes)

Panel Discussions feature multiple presenters offering diverse perspectives on a focused topic relevant to counseling practice, education, research, leadership, advocacy, or international counseling issues. Panels should include opportunities for audience engagement and discussion.

 

Oral Research Presentation (15 Minutes)

New for 2026!

Oral Research Presentations provide an opportunity for researchers, faculty, practitioners, and students to present completed or ongoing research studies in a concise format. Presentations should highlight the purpose, methodology, findings, implications, and recommendations of the research. Multiple Oral Research Presentations may be grouped together within a research session.

 

Spotlight Session/Intensive (3 Hours)

Spotlight Sessions/Intensives provide in-depth exploration of specialized topics, advanced counseling practices, emerging issues, leadership development, supervision, counselor education, research, or innovative approaches to professional practice. These highly interactive sessions should offer substantial content, practical application, experiential learning opportunities, and advanced skill development for participants.

 

Pre-Conference Workshop (3 Hours)

Pre-Conference Workshops are offered on October 21, 2026, prior to the official conference opening. These extended learning experiences provide participants with intensive training, specialized skill development, and in-depth exploration of topics relevant to counseling practice, education, supervision, leadership, research, and advocacy.

 

Poster Presentation

Poster Presentations are reserved for student presenters and provide an opportunity to showcase research, innovative projects, program development, advocacy initiatives, and emerging professional contributions. Presenters will engage attendees through visual displays and interactive discussion.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each presenter may submit proposals for up to two sessions, allowing for greater diversity in presentations and presenters.

  • All presenters must register for the conference.

  • At least one presenter for each accepted proposal must attend and present in person.

  • Proposals should clearly identify learning objectives and demonstrate relevance to the conference theme and/or international counseling practice.

  • Poster Presentations are limited to student presenters.

  • Oral Research Presentations may be submitted by faculty, practitioners, professionals, and students.

Proposal Deadline

Proposal submissions are due by July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

No submissions will be accepted after this date and time.

 

Notification of Acceptance

Proposal determination letters will be emailed by August 10, 2026.
